Featured Artist Sophie Dare
Sophie Dare is an American impressionist painter, muralist and art instructor who has worked in the visual arts and design fields for over 30 years. Her distinctive artistic voice truly emerged after a period of family grief. Her large-scale, textured oil paintings explore healing, gentleness, and and calmness with nature. Her work is about the emotional terrain we all move through as we seek light, connection, and renewal. Through softened horizons, layered texture, and luminous color, her paintings offer sanctuaries - spaces to breathe, rest, and return to yourself, even in the midst of a busy, noisy world. She explores the simple beauties* found in nature and wildlife, capturing the interplay of light and texture. Her nostalgic depictions of life in the South infuse homes with a sense of healing, gratitude and serenity.
Kiawah Art Collective
How it all began…Beth Haizlip, co-founder of the Kiawah Art Collective, was born in Charleston, South Carolina. She painted at an early age with her sister Anne. From her love of art and her fellow artist friends, she hosted annual Kiawah River workshops for over 20 years. The desire for everyone to get together more frequently and the need for artistic support, led to the creation of the Kiawah Art Collective. “It’s never too late to start being creative! Being able to make art is a powerful gift! You are a successful artist if you do what pleases and challenges you, lifts your spirit and raises you up. We all need encouragement, love and learning!”
