Sophie Dare is an American impressionist painter, muralist and instructor who has worked in visual arts and a design capacity for over 30 years. Though she received formal training at UGA, her distinctive artistic voice truly emerged after a period of family grief, developing in her a sense of healing and calmness with nature. She started to explore the simple beauties* found in nature and wildlife, capturing the interplay of light and texture in her work. Through dynamic palette knife oils, and added elements like cold wax or gold leaf, she creates a sensory experience that shifts in the light. Her nostalgic depictions of life in the South infuse homes with a sense of healing and gratitude.
